Vijnana Yoga

The hallmark of Vijnana yoga is simplicity.

Vijnana Yoga is practice from inside.  It is the work of Orit Sen-Gupta.

Based on practice and the wisdom of the traditional yogic texts, Vijnana Yoga is deeply rooted in raja and hatha yoga..  It evolves in the line of T. Krishnamacharya, the teacher of BKS Iyengar, Desikachar and Pattabhi Jois. In terms of “modern” yoga, it is quite radical.

This practice is nourishing.  It is based on a deep listening from inside, in that way, we follow dharma.  The breath, the mind and body are closely aligned in asana practice, creating/searching the true form.  Centering is the test for alignment, moving from the physical to a more pranic level. Rooting is the natural result of the basic practice.

The teaching of yoga is traditionally from one teacher to one student.  Vijnana Yoga is for each individual because the practice comes from inside with the guidance of the teacher.  It is not a prescribed form or posture dictated by photographs or outer images.

This practice directly addresses the first issue of Ayurvedic remedy – controlling vata.  In this practice we make contact with the earth and develop an interactive relationship that will radically change your relationship to asana.
